技术创新是否能够促进老字号企业成长?——传统文化和市场化水平的双重伦理格局视角

摘要:
技术创新是触发老字号企业成长的关键因素,然而现有研究十分有限,聚焦于本土情境下的研究则更为匮乏。本文创新地引入具有中国独特社会要素的双重伦理格局作为情境变量,探索技术创新对老字号企业成长影响的内在机制,采用回归分析和模糊集定性比较分析方法(fsQCA)进行假设检验和路径分析。回归分析表明:技术创新正向促进老字号企业成长;在受传统文化影响比较高的区域,技术创新对老字号企业成长的促进作用被弱化;随着市场化水平的提高,技术创新对老字号企业成长的促进效果愈发明显;传统文化、市场化水平和技术创新三者交互项与老字号企业成长负相关。同时,fsQCA的结果显示:处于市场化水平较高且受传统文化影响较小的国有老字号企业,其技术创新的积极效应取决于企业的规模程度,相比大规模企业,小规模企业技术创新对企业成长的积极影响更为显著;在行业竞争激烈的情境下,无论其他条件如何,技术创新都是老字号企业良性成长的关键条件。研究结论为老字号企业在本土情境下如何通过实施技术创新活动促进企业成长提供了经验证据。

Can Technological Innovation Promote the Growth of Time-Honored Enterprises?—The Dual Ethical Perspective of Traditional Culture and Marketization Level

Abstract:
Technological innovation is the key factor to trigger the growth of time-honored enterprises. However, the existing research is very limited, and the research focusing on the local context is even less. It creatively introduced the dual ethics pattern with China’s unique social elements as a situational variable, explored the internal mechanism of the impact of technological innovation on the growth of time-honored enterprises, and used regression analysis and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to conduct hypothesis test and path analysis. Regression analysis results show that technological innovation promotes the growth of time-honored enterprises; in the areas that are highly influenced by traditional culture, technological innovation promotes the growth of time-honored enterprises is weakened; with the improvement of marketization level, the effect of technological innovation on the growth of time-honored enterprises becomes more significant; the interaction items of traditional culture, marketization level and technological innovation are negatively correlated with the growth of time-honored enterprises. The conclusions of fsQCA are as follows. For state-owned time-honored enterprises with a relatively high level of marketization and less influence from traditional culture, the positive effect of technological innovation depends on the scale of the enterprise. Compared with large-scale enterprises, technological innovation of small-scale enterprises has a more significant positive impact on enterprise growth. When there is fierce industry competition, regardless of other conditions, technological innovation is the key factor to the healthy expansion of the well-established companies. The research results provide empirical evidence for how time-honored enterprises promote their growth through the implementation of technological innovation activities in the local context.
