Abstract: |
Global manufacturing firms are facing the severe pressure of green transformation, and thus green innovation has become an important strategy for manufacturing firms to promote their green transformation process. Based on a survey data of 307 Chinese manufacturing firms, it constructed a moderated mediation model to explore the indirect impact of green creativity on firms’ financial performance under different ownership and green training levels in order to reveal the potential intermediary mechanisms and boundary conditions for the relationship between green creativity and manufacturing firms’ financial performance in emerging economies. The results demonstrate that green creativity promote firms’ financial performance, and green product innovation mediates this relationship. Furthermore, the results show that the green creativity of non‐state‐owned enterprises has a more significant positive impact on green product innovation than state‐owned enterprises; and green training also positively moderates the mediating effect of green product innovation on the relationship between green creativity and firms’ financial performance. Overall, it extends the current understanding of the relationship between green creativity and firms’ financial performance in the transitional era and provides theoretical guidance for encouraging manufacturing firms to take green strategies. |
