    摘要:

    如何推进突破性创新以破解“卡脖子”技术难题已成为理论界和实务界亟须回答的关键问题。当前由人工智能引领的新一轮科技革命和产业变革,正为此关键问题赋予新内涵与新意义。基于社会技术系统理论,以2012—2022年我国A股高科技上市公司为研究对象,实证检验了人工智能应用对突破性创新的影响及作用机制。研究发现,人工智能应用与高科技企业突破性创新间呈先下降后上升的U形关系。机制分析表明,人工智能应用对战略惯性和知识多元化分别产生倒U形和U形影响,是人工智能应用与高科技企业突破性创新之间非线性关系的重要路径。异质性分析表明,具有数字化背景的高管、企业良好的数字化转型基础和充裕的政府补助可帮助高科技企业更早摆脱人工智能应用对突破性创新“负能”区间。通过构建“人工智能应用—组织适应性调整—突破性创新”分析框架,揭示了人工智能应用影响突破性创新的“双刃剑”作用机理,不仅有助于拓展社会技术系统理论的应用边界,为既有“政策效能观”和“技术导向观”提供一种弥合的可能性,也能够为政府精准制定人工智能产业政策、高科技企业科学规划人工智能应用策略与优化突破性创新资源配置提供实践指引。

    Abstract:

    How to promote breakthrough innovation to solve the “bottleneck” technical problems has become a key question that urgently needs to be answered in both theoretical and practical fields. The current new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation led by artificial intelligence was endowing this key question with new connotations and meanings. Based on the theory of social technology systems, it empirically examined the impact and mechanism of artificial intelligence application on breakthrough innovation in Chinese A-share high-tech listed companies from 2012 to 2022. It finds that there is a U-shaped relationship between the application of artificial intelligence and breakthrough innovation in high-tech enterprises. Mechanism analysis shows that the application of artificial intelligence has the inverted U-shaped impact and the U-shaped impact on strategic inertia and knowledge diversification, which are the mediators of the nonlinear relationship between the application of artificial intelligence and breakthrough innovation in high-tech enterprises. Heterogeneity analysis shows that executives with a digital background, a solid foundation of digital transformation in enterprises, and ample government subsidies help high-tech enterprises break free from the negative impact of artificial intelligence application on breakthrough innovation earlier. It reveals the double-edged sword mechanism of artificial intelligence application on breakthrough innovation by constructing an analytical framework of “artificial intelligence application organizational adaptability adjustment- breakthrough innovation”. It not only helps to expand the application boundaries of social technology system theory, providing a possible explanatory perspective for bridging the existing “policy effectiveness view” and “technology orientation view”, but also provides practical guidance for government departments to accurately formulate artificial intelligence industry policies and for high-tech enterprises to scientifically plan artificial intelligence application strategies and optimize breakthrough innovation resource allocation.
